One.......
Two young pupils, Duncan Weldon and Joanne Shipley, (both from the local Hirst High School in Ashington), read out short pieces of work about the Lifeboat Station. Duncan read out piece's of the Lifeboat Station from 1851 up to 2001 - see below. Joanne read out piece's about the heroic Women of Newbiggin, most times forgotten when reciting lifeboat stories - see right. These stories were very interesting to hear, sometimes amusing as well!
The Duke presented a Thanks On

Lifeboat Station, for their outstanding duty and heroic activities. see below
left. The Duke was presented with a framed photograph of the Newbiggin Lifeboat Station it's crew, and the Branch and Ladies Lifeboat Guild members signed by them all, see right.
The Marske Fishermen's Choir - see left - entertained us with some of their popular songs. They also sang a song especially wrote for Newbiggin Lifeboat Station entitled "Newbiggin's Lifeboat Song" - which was written by Sheila Johnson and George Robson who are now living in Canada, This was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
At the end of the Service, everyone was thanked for attending, the Marske Fishermen's Choir for their entertaining and amusing songs, and the Ashington Colliery Band for their endless supply of musical melodies throughout the Service. The Lifeboat crew, along with Stan Green and the Duke of Northumberland, posed for budding photographers alike, with the signed photograph - see left.
