What's New

I aim to explore and display information of Eric's service history, both in the Royal Navy and HM Coastguards.

Royal Navy.
The years covered are from 1923 to 1949 when Eric joined the Royal Navy.  I hope to find information of ships and submarines Eric served on, up to, during World War Two ( including being a Prisoner Of war in Italy) and after.  Known ships Eric did in fact serve on include:

HMs/m Tempest        HMS Royal Oak        P32        HMS Dolphin

HMS Pembroke      HMS Daring        HMS Comet ...to mention a few.

HM Coastguards.
Eric's service and rescues undertaken during his ten years in HM Coastguards.  The years covered are from:
1949/55 with Eric's first station at Newbiggin-By-The-Sea
1955/58 at Cockburnspath and finally
1958/59 at Wick until his untimely death.

Places Visited.
I have visited all three stations of Newbiggin-By-The-Sea; Cockburnspath and Wick, (if only a fleeting one or two day stop) and will be looking at how each one has changed using old black and white photo's and recent colour photographs.

Places Stayed.
There will also be a list of Bed & Breakfast facilities used during the visits with true and honest ratings of the facilities and prices paid.
